Prayers In a Bottle!

I have had over the last few months an overwhelming experience with prayer. I mean, I’ve prayed it seems all my life. I’ve also seen God do some amazing things as a result of prayer. But, recently I’ve done something different that I haven’t really done, which is keep track of my prayers. I started a “Prayer Jar” with my family at the beginning of this year. I figured it would be neat to keep track of our prayers and answers/praises in two jars, and then at the end of the year, go back and see how the Lord worked. Pretty amazing right? I would love to take credit for it, but I got the idea from someone else, lol.

However, in the midst of doing this, my mind went to my grandmother. My granny Booker was a church lady. She took me to church all the time as a kid, and was one of the reasons why I am in the Lord today. But, there was something else that I remember about my grandmother…..she PRAYED. She would tell me all the time that she prayed for me everyday! Now, as a kid listening to this, it wasn’t quite so important to me. But, now as an adult, a wife and mother, living this life with all of it’s ups and downs, challenges and successes, I truly now understand the wonder of prayer and the impact it has had on my life.

When I think about the many years my grandmother must have spent lifting me up before GOD. Talking to Him about me, and about my life, and her desires for me, as well as her desire to want me to be saved and kept from harm. Truthfully, I can’t even comprehend the depth of her prayers. I am sure I have some understanding of what drove her, as having my own children I know what my prayers look like on a daily basis. When I look at the world, I am distressed at what my children will have to live through, when I am no longer here, and if Jesus doesn’t doesn’t come. How I dread knowing that it is possible  they will have to endure some really harsh things. I pray about relationships and how I want GOD to keep the “Wrong Men or Women” away from my sons and daughters. I pray about their future, and what they will do for Him. The list is endless and changes from day to day, just as they change from day to day.

But, mostly my mind thinks of just how far reaching prayer can be. The fact that my grandmother prayed prayers years ago, when I was a baby, and that those prayers have carried me through even until this time in my life. YES, her prayers God has not forgotten! He honors His word, and keeps his promises. He listened and bent His ear unto my grandmother’s request, and as a result, those prayers full of love and mercy, have taken me through some of the most challenging, desperate and joyous times in my life. I can’t possibly truly understand just how Powerful Prayer is. But one day, I am sure I will know when I stand face to face with Christ and I will be able to see the pages of my life unfolded before my eyes and also see just how far reaching and impactful those prayers of my grandmother were.

So now, as I have taken to praying not just for myself, not just for my children, but also for my future grandchildren, and their spouses, etc. I have taken to prayer for my friends and family all over the world. My neighbors, my co-workers, and just random folks I come into contact with every day. I put those names in a jar and I lift them before GOD and share with Him the deepest parts of what is on my heart and what they have shared with me, or sometimes they may not even know I am praying for them.

And that, is what makes Prayer so AMAZING! The fact that someone, someplace, somewhere, is lifting you up to GOD, taking your case, your name, your family, your situation or circumstance, your desires, your hurts, your pain, your joys, your sorrow, your broken heart, you confusion, your stress, you anger, your pain, your future before GOD and asking Him to step in. Sometimes even when you are not able to pray for yourself, someone is praying for you. My grandmother did that for me….my mother did and does that for me. Many people do that for me, and for that I am truly grateful.

I now want to be that person who does that for others. I can’t wait to get to heaven to see just how GOD answered prayers for those whom I didn’t have the ability to see again. Yet, I will be able to see just how GOD answered those prayers. What a reunion and what a movie that will be. Watching Him impact lives all because we take the time to go to God in prayer.

Even now I am able to see the result of prayer in my life and others. It is AMAZING to see Him work! Just simply amazing and the answer to prayer is always a YES, it’s not always a NO. Sometimes it’s wait, and sometimes it’s you see by and by, lol. But I do know this, PRAYER is always answered.

Why not get yourself a bottle or two and you can begin to start now. Even if you haven’t prayed in a long time, it’s never too late to start. Take your burdens and cares to GOD, and while you are at it, begin to take those around you to Him as well. You’ll be amazed at how just a few prayers in a bottle can change your life and the lives of those around you.

I have to warn you though, once you start, it becomes contagious and your jars will fill up in a matter of weeks! I can’t wait to go over the blessings and reflect on just how GOD has answered prayer in my life and those around me. He wants to answer our prayers and he desperately wants us to come to Him….because WE R Loved!

II Chronicles 7:14 “ If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
