Sweet Seeds for the Seeds!

Hi Guys 🙂

For a really long time I have been wanting to make my own granola or fruit bars for the kids. One reason is because I really don’t like buying the ones from the store because of all of the preservatives and added stuff that really isn’t good for the kids. I have worked hard to stay away from refined sugar and other candy treats for them. There are some really good ones out there like nature bars or other real fruit bars….but they are TOO expensive with having 4 kids. So, I decided to make my own.

So I purchased a couple of odd things like dates from the grocery store, dried blue berries. Then when I went home I took some slivered Almonds, flaxseeds, roasted sunflower seeds, and placed them in a bowl. I then took my dates, pitted them, and placed them in a food processor and chop on a pulse until you see small bits. Place the dates in the bowl with the seeds, nuts, raisins, blueberries, and anything else that you would like.

Now you will have to get your hands dirty. Mixing the things together, and the dates and raisins act as the adhesive to hold everything together. So, I rub my hands with oil (olive oil or canola oil) to prevent it from sticking. Then once you have everything mixed well, place in a flat pan, rectangle, round or square. Flatten with a spoon or spatula, and get to a thickness off about 3/4 of an inch Or thicker and let sit over night covered.

The next day, cut slices or wrap individually and save for snack times, road trips or to keep you in line, like myself, who often has a a sweet craving. This is a health alternative to something unhealthy.

Enjoy and remember……U R Loved!
